Effective Live Online Teaching

In a good article in de Volkskrant, Jos Fransen (Lecturer teaching, learning & technology at Inholland University of Applied Sciences) writes that online education is more than just your regular lesson played for the camera.

For years we have expected technology to have a major impact on education. Has the corona crisis given an extra push in the right direction? Fransen explains, "At the start of the new academic year, we have to conclude that while technology has become inevitable, teaching itself has hardly changed. Many teachers teach online as they did face to face pre-corona. That does not always prove effective, and certainly not efficient."

We too see that by now all educational institutions have started using various programs to provide distance education. But live online contact and interaction with students remains difficult. Especially teaching large groups is still only used to a limited extent. How do you deal with this as an educational institution?

"If we seize the necessary redesign of education to also redesign the learning trajectory and make it more activating, we will take a big step toward the education of the future." - Jos Fransen

Fortunately, this has been our expertise since 2012. Did you already know that Learning Connected can help with....

  • Effectively leveraging the live online communication capabilities of the tool you're already using (Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Webex Teams, you name it!)
  • Putting together a content-rich live online lesson
  • Maintaining direction and structure in your session/lesson
  • Choosing and using interactive work formats, even for large audiences!
  • Preparing & running a live online class: what should you all be aware of?
