This stemmed from the problem that k<\/strong><strong>children with a non-Western background and mental health problems often do not receive the right help in time. We developed the course '<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/study2go.nl\/collections\/cultuursensitief-werken\/products\/cultuursensitief-werken-en-vroegsignalering-lvb-en-ggz-problematiek-bij-migrantenjeugd-live-sessies\"><strong>Culture-sensitive working and early detection of LVB and GGZ problems in migrant youth<\/strong><\/a><strong>'. This was the starting point for many more great trainings, theme sessions and collaborations. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In 2020, all designed theme sessions within the project LOL with Academic Workplaces Transformation Youth will be resumed with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zonmw.nl\/nl\/onderzoek-resultaten\/jeugd\/programmas\/programma-detail\/academische-werkplaatsen-transformatie-jeugd\/\">ZonMw grant<\/a> The course is offered to a large group of professionals within youth care, municipalities, district teams and education. This gives professionals the opportunity to continue to develop in the field of cultural sensitivity within their work. The knowledge and material developed in recent years will also be safeguarded. We will gladly inform you of the latest developments!<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Enthusiastic responses<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>We have been busy with this project since early this spring. All theme sessions have been offered to a group of 70 professionals. We also trained new experts to be LOL speakers and these experts designed new theme sessions in collaboration with Learning Connected, which will be offered as of September. The theme sessions have been well attended in recent months. From the first evaluations, the following positive reactions have been received:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>93% of the participants indicate that they can actually put into practice what they have learned in the theme sessions. They indicate that they are especially more aware of culturally sensitive issues and adopt a different attitude in conversations with clients.<\/li>\n<li>79% of the participants give the content of the theme sessions an 8 or higher!<\/li>\n<li>57% of the participants give the Live Online Learning as a way of gaining and exchanging knowledge an 8. 29% even give it a 9!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><strong>Project StandUp<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Furthermore, during the StandUp project, the precursor to LOL with the Academic Workshops Transforming Youth, we designed two courses in 2019 for young people with mental health problems and a migration background and the parents of this target group. In the spring we gave this training to no less than five groups! We developed these trainings in collaboration with foundation Voorlichters Gezondheid, experience-driven young people from the project Koplopers ST-RAW, partner Hogeschool Rotterdam and from the project hoofdzaken of the NJR. The purpose of these trainings is to promote self-reliance and recovery. This also received very positive reactions from the young people who participated.
